Winter Wonderland at The National Ice Centre 2013 – Case Study

We worked closely with our long term client The National Ice Centre to supply production for their Winter Wonderland skating experience. With no outdoor rink in Nottingham’s market square for Christmas 2013, the team at the NIC (which houses the Capital FM Arena and Capital One Community Rink) asked us to design a scheme which would temporarily transform the Capital One Rink and allow them to promote special public skating sessions with a Christmas them.

Challenges & achievements

In addition to the environmental challenges posed by working on the ice, our team had to ensure the rink remained usable without interruption to training sessions for the Nottingham Panthers ice hockey team, Ice Dance champions, Team GB Speed Skating to name a few!

With a limited budget all parties worked hard to create this fantastic atmosphere. We programmed a large number of scenes to cover all the themed party nights and promotional events, and dropped it onto the in-house Martin Light Jockey system to allow the client to manage playback.
